Why Do You Need a Professional Social Media Page?

Social media is everywhere. You’ve probably heard about - if not already implementing! - social media marketing in order to grow your business. Think about the first thing you do when you come across an unfamiliar business -- you’re probably going to check out their website or their social media pages to see reviews before deciding whether or not you are interested. Potential buyers are doing the same to you. Agents need to have an established online presence -- it could go a long way in growing your client base.

Something to keep in mind, especially as a real estate professional where a large part of your career is spent establishing connections with prospects, is that a dedicated business account is necessary. Not only will this help you establish a strong professional image, but you can also utilize the business tools on each social media platform to its fullest potential.

Why do you need dedicated professional social media accounts?

1. Establish credibility as an experienced real estate agent.

Your social media presence is your portfolio. As such, agents need to have separate social media accounts for business purposes - your page represents your brand and the quality of your work. This is your opportunity to highlight your experience, establish credibility as a trusted agent, and directly communicate with your prospects. This is the perfect avenue to brag about all your professional accomplishments -- you can post your certifications or licenses, properties that you’ve sold, even client testimonials! By drawing attention to your accomplishments, you are establishing your credibility as a successful real estate agent.

2. Reach more people.

Social media is a great way to find new people and businesses. With hashtags, retweets, and stories, there are so many opportunities for agents to capitalize on these sharing services. One unique feature on Instagram is the ability to repost content to your story. It is a great way to widen your reach. When your followers share your posts, they are sharing your profile with their followers. You’re organically reaching more people and getting your business in front of more users.

One thing to keep in mind when you’re posting to your social media pages, be sure to include valuable content, not just self-promotion every single time. You want to provide value to your followers so that they engage with your content. Social media platforms are designed to boost “popular” posts -- Instagram and Tiktok are especially consistent in boosting content that receives high engagement.

3. Create targeted ads.

As a business account, you have access to tools that measure your impressions and your engagement. Most social media platforms have an integrated suite of tools available for you to track your activity. Similar to how you would use CRM tools to nurture client relationships, you should use these engagement tools to establish your online presence.

When you understand your audience, you can create more targeted content and ads to increase engagement. Most platforms will provide detailed reports about your followers. For example, Facebook has a great suite of tools for businesses. You can find out how many people are looking at your posts, how many people are checking out your page, and the best times to post depending on when your followers are active. These tools go a long way in helping you make strategic posting decisions. You can also pay a fee on most social media platforms to promote your posts and have the platform push your content to more users.

Social media may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it is an extremely useful tool if you are looking to grow your business and reach a broader audience, as long as you opt for a dedicated business account. There are plenty of opportunities on these platforms to reach a new audience. The business tools can be used to your advantage for your strategic posting and branding.
