Experience: 25 years Specializations: luxury and riverfront homes Areas Served: Hamilton and surrounding areas Q: What made you become interested in real estate? A: My passion to help people Q: What was your favorite moment in your career so far? A: Quite a number. A young 21-year-old had already saved $10,000 and purchased a car, a motorcycle and a truck which were all paid for. He did not have a credit score however so it was very difficult to get him financed. We actually built his credit report and got him into his first home. That home has now appreciated quite nicely because of a variety of factors including his sweat equity. He is now married and is about ready to go on to his next home. Q: What do you wish you had known when you first got your real estate license? A: That a third-party coach could not only keep you accountable but could look at things from another viewpoint, often with knowledge that you did not possess. Consequently they are worth their weight in gold. Q: In what ways have you seen the real estate industry change since you started? A: Paperwork has gone from 2 page buy-sells to 9 pages with several addendums. Financing is more difficult, is more time consuming, and has lots more hoops to jump through. People often feel they know more than they do because of the availability of information on the internet. It's just not always accurate. Q: What’s the most challenging part of your job? A: Many people are good, solid people who should be able to get into homes but they don't fit into the little boxes that lenders require and therefore cannot get financing that some can. It is also harder to develop client loyalty until you actually into a transaction because of today's mindset and because the Internet takes away the personal element. Q: If you could sum up being a real estate agent in five words or less, what would you say? A: Fantastic rewarding career.
