Q: What made you become interested in real estate? A: Business ownership and work-life balance.

Q: What is the most interesting thing that happened during an open house you hosted? A: Next door neighbors were hosting a backyard BBQ and rock concert. They were actually really good and folks visiting the open house said it was odd but not unpleasant. A few even wandered next door to listen for a while.

Q: What was your favorite moment in your career so far? A: I had a couple that broke down crying after signing. They had been shopping for over a year when I met them and their budget kept opportunities rather limited. They were convinced they would never find a house they could afford that didn't need a lot of work. In one neighborhood they loved, I knocked on 40 doors asking if anyone was willing to sell their home and found an older couple looking to downsize. The house needed some cosmetic attention but everything was in great shape. The older couple even left some furniture behind because my buyers mentioned they liked it and would want some just like it. I ended up helping the sellers find a nice little cottage as well.

Q: What do you wish you had known when you first got your real estate license? A: You can say no to working with a client.

Q: In what ways have you seen the real estate industry change since you started? A: When I started we were riding the unsustainable upswing in the market. I saw the trend that it was slowing down and it had already started to stabilize when Covid hit. The growth of iBuyers has helped minimize the potential impact of the quarantine as more buyers have become comfortable shopping online.

Q: What’s the most challenging part of your job? A: Managing client expectations. Sometimes sellers let emotional attachment to their home cloud their judgement in its value or what needs repaired. And buyers frequently have wants that outstrip their budget.Q: If you could sum up being a real estate agent in five words or less, what would you say? A: Challenging, rewarding, evolving, adventurous, humbling.
