Experience: 14 years Specializations: Residential real estate, including vacation and second homes as well as new construction homes. Areas Served: Winter Park, Winter Springs, Oviedo, Lake Mary, and the communities of Lake Nona, Dr. Phillips and Windermere within the Greater Metropolitan of Orlando. Q: What made you become interested in real estate? A: After almost 20 years in the hospitality industry, I was looking for another service-oriented industry where I could incorporate my skills in negotiations, eye for detail, planning, organizing and marketing. The Real Estate industry also provides me with the freedom to get out of an office environment and additionally provides me with the opportunity to develop life long relationships with my customers. Q: What is the most interesting thing that happened during an open house you hosted? A: Well, I wish I could say that I have had a memorable experience worth noting. Maybe the best experience would be selling that home to a family that comes to the open house and see their excitement in knowing this house is THE ONE first hand. Q: What was your favorite moment in your career so far? A: My proudest moment(s): When I was able to help a career military man and his family purchase their very first home. This man, who was a Sergeant Major, raised his children in military housing and following an IED attack on his Humvee in Iraq that could have ended his life, decided to retire and be there for his family for many more years to come. Q: What do you wish you had known when you first got your real estate license? A: How much time, energy and expense comes with consistently generating leads and building my business. I thought I just showed houses, wrote contracts and got paid. Boy I found out quickly how wrong I was! Q: In what ways have you seen the real estate industry change since you started? A: The biggest changes in the real estate industry since I first got started all revolve around technology. From digital photography to electronic signing of docs to the use of cell phones, texting and let’s not forget, social media! Most of these changes have been very good for our business, but you can also get tethered to all these devices if you are not careful and you will be working 24 hours a day 7 days a week. So do not forget to schedule “me-time.” Q: What’s the most challenging part of your job? A: The most challenging part of my job is that technology has made it easier for the public to search for homes etc. but this also makes many of them think they know more than the Realtor. As a result we have to always be one step a head or they will be right! Q: If you could sum up being a real estate agent in five words or less, what would you say? A: You must be flexible, patient, transparent, honest and have integrity.
