Experience: 6 years Specializations: Single Family Homes, Acreage/farmland, Income Property Areas Served: Butte, Yuba, Sutter mainly, will also go to Nevada and Placer counties Q: What made you become interested in real estate? A: My father was an investor in many homes, apartments, and retail stores (grocery, restaurants, gas stations, auto sales, Lube and Oil, bars, video stores and more). I graduated from Chico State University with a Business degree with an emphasis in accounting, MIS and human resource management. After many years working in corporate offices, having a passion for real estate took over and I decided to obtain my real estate license, and have loved assisting sellers get their homes sold, as well as finding the perfect home for buyers also. Q: What is the most interesting thing that happened during an open house you hosted? A: I once ended up holding an impromptu open house when I was showing a client a very cute brick home which had just been listed. Upon arriving and opening the home for my buyers to view, several other cars pulled up, also wanting to view. The home was not a fit for my buyers and they were finished viewing for the day and left. I ended up at the home for over an hour letting others view the home. Q: What was your favorite moment in your career so far? A: Finding out that I made one of the top producers in my office of over 65 agents and in a tight market and have stayed a top producing agent since my second year as a Realtor. Most inspiring is when I have first time home buyers looking for their first home and we find them the perfect fit for them. It’s exciting to see the happiness at closing when they are no longer renters, but homeowners Q: What do you wish you had known when you first got your real estate license? A: That I would love what I am doing! I wasted so many years going into a office and working very hard with very little reward, other than a monthly salary. I am on commission now (was very afraid of that), and happy every day. Q: In what ways have you seen the real estate industry change since you started? A: When I was starting in real estate, the market had just gone crazy, hitting record highs and I saw that the crash was imminent. The market did crash, many thousands lost their homes to the banks, and home prices plummeted to record lows, after which many processes, such as the appraisal process, changed. Before, a buyer or their agent could pick who would be doing the appraisal; now the bank sends out the order for an appraisal and the market is much more fair. Q: What's the most challenging part of your job? A: Finding sellers and buyers to work with, other than through people I already know. Finding the best way to market myself. Q: If you could sum up being a real estate agent in five words or less, what would you say? A: LOVE what I do!
