Experience: 6 years as a licensed agent and nearly a decade as a contractor and real estate investment counselor and home flipper. Specializations: First-time home buyers, out of state buyers, and unique logistical situations. Areas Served: Phoenix metro area, Gilbert, Chandler, Scottsdale, Mesa, Queen Creek, Tempe, Gold Canyon and San Tan Valley. Q: What made you become interested in real estate? A: My passion is to serve others and my gifting is in counseling. Combining that with my trade experience and real estate investment background - this is my dream job! I love getting to problem solve and LOVE others in unique and creative ways each day by crafting solutions and pathways in a variety of residential real estate situations. Q: What is the most interesting thing that happened during an open house you hosted? A: I think the best part about open houses is the opportunity to connect with people where they are, and engaging with them as a human being, not simply a potential buyer. The house is secondary - my first priority is to connect with you and get to know who you are, why you’re there, etc… Everything else comes later. Q: What was your favorite moment in your career so far? A: The first one that comes to mind is a seller who believed their best option was to wholesale their home to an investor and hopefully be able to afford a mobile home. They were in the process of grieving a difficult family situation and had let the home go, and believed it was too far gone to even think about selling. Because they didn’t have proper perspective, they were led to believe things that weren’t true about their situation, and their home. In 6 months, we built a plan to invest some money into key areas into the property with recommended contractors whom I trusted to get the job done, and sold the home within a week. The home sold for significantly more than they ever imagined, and we kept enough equity in place to allow them to downsize and purchase a dream retirement home for them. They simply weren’t educated initially on what was available, and together, we were able to craft a new story for them! Q: What do you wish you had known when you first got your real estate license? A: The key to being successful is less about knowing a bunch about real estate, and more about treating others the way you want to be treated. Engaging every situation with that perspective really changes things, and helps keep priorities in order. Growing in that skill has been much more beneficial than getting better at “selling homes”. Q: In what ways have you seen the real estate industry change since you started? A: Surprisingly not much. There’s always some new flashy technology out there or new way of doing things, but I simply view those things as tools to help you love others better. My job is give you a better real estate story than you could imagine, and to love you well through it. Regardless of what changes in our industry, that goal won’t change. Q: What’s the most challenging part of your job? A: Divorce situations with home sales are always the hardest. You want to celebrate great moments with a seller, and for them, it’s simply another step to closure of a difficult situation. I treasure the opportunity to serve in these trying times because both parties often are struggling, and it’s amazing how far kindness and professionalism can go to help bridge the communication gap, and provide a smooth experience, regardless of the hardship. Q: If you could sum up being a real estate agent in five words or less, what would you say? A: It’s not about the house!
