Experience: 6 years Specializations: first homes, empty nesters, HUD properties, short sales, investment properties. Areas Served: King & Pierce counties. Q: What made you become interested in real estate? A: It was the family business. I started in real estate appraising in the 1980's, which was the family business, and went to open houses hosted by my grandmother, who was a realtor in Kirkland. While I took a break from real estate while my children were young, it truly was my passion and I was drawn back into it. Q: What is the most interesting thing that happened during an open house you hosted? A: One particularly enjoyable experiences was one of my first open houses. A young couple came in and were very dissatisfied with their agent because of his lack of follow-through and communication. They weren't interested in the house that I was holding the open house for; however, I was able to start a search for them and within a short amount of time was able to find the perfect home for them and their growing family. They were very please, and in fact, they have given me a number referrals since that time years ago. Q: What was your favorite moment in your career so far? A: I think my last closing has been one of my favorites. The clients (sellers) did their research and found me after examining agents online. They called me and we listed their home the next day. The clients had reasonable expectations for what their home value was and within 4 hours of listing the property we had multiple offers and accepted one $20,000 over asking price. On the day the CD was being released, the buyer wanted to renegotiate the price, and when that didn’t happen, they walked - losing their earnest money. I put the home back on the market that night and once again had multiple offers over the weekend. This time, I sold it for $50,000 over asking price and closed in less than 30 days. My sellers were ecstatic and the buyer and buyer’s agent were very happy as well. It was a very smooth process even with the first bump in the road. Q: What do you wish you had known when you first got your real estate license? A: That I should have done it sooner. Q: What’s the most challenging part of your job? A: Dealing with others who do not communicate no matter how difficult the circumstances. The clients’ best interest needs to be a focal point and all parties need to be working towards that so that the buying and selling of a home is a smooth process. Even if there are obstacles, there’s no need to derail a transaction. No matter who we represent, we want this to be an enjoyable process with little to NO drama. Q: If you could sum up being a real estate agent in five words or less, what would you say? A: Enjoyable, Exciting, Fun, Changing, Exhilarating.
