Brian Summers The Summers Team K2 Realty

Experience: 8 years Specializations: New and existing residential sales Areas Served: Salt lake, Southern Davis, and Northern Utah counties.   Q: What made you become interested in real estate? A: Growing up, I was always a people person and willing to help however I could. I was also really into home construction and design. I thought becoming a real estate agent/broker was a good way to help people with one of the biggest and most important lifestyle choices they will ever make. I enjoy helping people buy and sell the place they call home as their needs and wants change. It's very rewarding to see people move to a better situation for them. Q: What is the most interesting thing that happened during an open house you hosted? A: I was sitting in an open house for a property that was built in 1882. I was holding it open for another agent and I was alone and I heard footsteps down the hall. I went to check it out and no one was there. Or at least no one that could be seen. It was a little creepy. I was a little freaked out and was twice as happy when some buyers showed up. Q: What was your favorite moment in your career so far? A: I had some clients that were upside down in a house that they sold in 2011. They bought the house in 2007 for twice as much as we sold it for. I was able to sell it for cash $50,000 over the highest comps value after it was only on the market for two weeks. The sellers really needed an offer to come in and quickly before they really got into trouble financially and we were able to get them out from under their mortgage and they broke even right before they would have come behind on payments. They are in a much better situation now and were able to get back on their feet and are once again homeowners. Q: What do you wish you had known when you first got your real estate license? A: Being involved with other agents is crucial.  You can't do this alone.  Having a membership in the board of Realtors makes listings easier to find and sell and the education and support that come from being a member are invaluable. Although I have always been a member since I got my license, it took me a couple years to fully realize and recognize the power of having good relationships with other good agents in the industry. Q: What’s the most challenging part of your job? A: The biggest challenge is making helping people understand the full value of a Realtor in today's market.  Many people can do it on their own. But it doesn't mean that it is the best way to do it! Realtors can help clients save time and money and headache. Q: If you could sum up being a real estate agent in five words or less, what would you say? A: Always there for clients first!
